Beginning July 1, 2012, the U of A will introduce a new semi-monthly pay cycle for all NASA staff, graduate students, excluded students and postdoctoral fellows. The semi-monthly pay cycle will consolidate the current monthly and biweekly pay cycles into a combined pay cycle featuring two pay periods and two pay dates each month.
Pay dates will be 10 days after each pay period end date. For example, payment for time worked between the 1st to the 15th of each month will be made on the 25th of the month while payment for time worked between the 16th to the last day of the month will be made on the 10th of the next month.
In July 2012, monthly NASA staff, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows moving to the semi-monthly cycle will receive one payment in that month on July 25, 2012 for all time worked between July 1-15, 2012. The next payment for the time worked between July 16-31, 2012 will be on August 10, 2012.
To assist individuals with the financial challenge that some may feel in the month of July 2012 due to this change, a one-time cash advance will be available to those impacted. The cash advance will be available in any amount up to 70% of the July 1, 2012 semi-monthly salary and is repayable back to the University in up to 24 equal installments.
