New Technology for Academic Position Evaluations

Compensation & Job Design (CJD) is excited to announce the launch of a new technology for academic position evaluations including Administrative Professional Officer (APO), Temporary Administrative Professional (TAP) under the SOTS Agreement, Trust/Research Academic, and Faculty Service Officer (FSO).

This technology mirrors systems already in place for support staff position evaluations. It eliminates the current paper based system, provides tools for communication, and improves reporting capabilities. Specific changes that result from the implementation of this new technology include:
  • Position information forms (PIF) are no longer required for new continuing APO positions; a position number will be assigned and communicated upon completion of the evaluation process. PIFs are still required for changes to existing positions, i.e. speedcode change, department i.d., etc.
  • Trust/Research Academic positions: Skill (Scope) Level (A, B or C) will be determined by the Supervisor and indicated at the time of posting or at the time of appointment if posting is not required. The Skill Level is no longer determined at the time of position evaluation. Any changes to Skill Level must be communicated to Academic Services (academic.services@ualberta.ca) directly.
  • You will receive an automated email confirming that CJD has received the position description, and has initiated an evaluation. Approximate timelines for evaluation are also indicated in the email.
We look forward to your feedback as we transition to the new Job Evaluation Tracking System (JETS). Please send feedback to hrcjd@ualberta.ca.
