Share the Holiday Cheer

The Share the Holiday Cheer initiative is coordinated through the University of Alberta International as a way of providing international students an opportunity to experience a traditional Canadian holiday dinner with faculty and staff. The program allows the respective groups to learn about each others cultures and traditions. The deadline for students and hosts is December 19th, 2012. Tax Slip Availability

T4 & T4A tax slips for the 2012 tax year will be released in Bear Tracks on February 11, 2013. Printed tax slips will be mailed by the end of February 2013.

Happy Holidays from Human Resource Services

With 2012 coming to a close and the holiday season drawing near, the staff in Human Resource Services wish you a happy holiday and best wishes for a wonderful new year! May your holiday be filled with joy and laughter and may the cheer of the holiday season be with you throughout the year ahead.

HRDF Changes for January 2013

Wellness courses will no longer be funded from the HRDF. Wellness courses can be reimbursed from the support staff member's Personal Spending Account. After April 1, 2013, support staff can "borrow" a maximum of two years worth of funding or $1500.00 and will be ineligible to apply for funding from HRDF in the subsequent fiscal year.

Immigration News

Academic Services (Immigration) would like to share an announcement about the new Labour Market Opinion Application, a reminder about foreign student work requirements, and information about the upcoming Immigration Information Sessions.

Holiday and Winter Closure 2012/13

This year the University Holiday and Winter Closure starts on December 25, 2012 and ends on January 1, 2013. This means that the University of Alberta is officially open on Monday, December 24th. Staff may choose to take a vacation day on December 24th, subject to operational requirements and the approval of their supervisor.

HRS Closed for Winter Luncheon

HRS will be closed during the afternoon of Friday, December 14th for their annual Winter Luncheon. This closure includes the HRS reception desk. An emergency contact phone number will be shared on the recorded voicemail message and will also be available on posters displayed at reception for any visitors seeking assistance.
