A New Approach to Academic Salary Letters

On July 22, HRS launched a new online method for sending the academic staff salary letter to more than 2700 academic staff. Moving the salary letters into the online system has reduced ongoing costs to produce the letter and also eliminated the need for departments to print, sign and distribute the letter. For academic staff receiving the letters the online process is more convenient to access and they will be able to easily review historical salary information when needed.

On the date of the launch, HRS was thrilled by the overwhelming number of academic staff who viewed the letter within seconds of receiving the announcement. After a minor hiccup in balancing the volume of requests was resolved, the overall reception of the new online method was extremely positive.

As active members of your department, we would like to hear from you to gather more feedback about how the new salary letters have been received in your area. Please contact employmentservices@ualberta.ca if you have suggestions about how we can continue to improve our service to you.
