Changes to Offer of Employment Process for LMIA Exempt Foreign Visitors

As of November 21, 2015, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) no longer accepts the IMM 5802 and the Employer Compliance Fee payment receipt from foreign nationals applying for a work permit. If you have foreign nationals who received these documents and did not apply for their work permit prior to November 21, 2015, you will need to take the following action:

Please submit an email to immigration.services@ualberta.ca with the following information:
  • In the subject heading state: WITHDRAWAL OF IMM 5802 and REQUEST REFUND.
  • Provide the foreign national’s full name, the host department and indicate if you are requesting a new assessment to be done.
  • Provide your contact information.
Immigration Services will:
  1. Request a withdrawal of the IMM 5802 and a refund from Citizenship and Immigration Canada on your behalf.
  2. Change the status of your Foreign Visitor Category Assessment (FVCA) in the Immigration Management System to “incomplete”.
Once you see this change of status in the Immigration Management System, please review the existing information, make any necessary changes, save and re-submit the request by clicking "submit to HRS". Immigration Services will then re-submit the offer of employment on-line through CIC’s Employer Portal and provide you with the necessary immigration documents.
