When offering an appointment to an employee who is moving from support staff to academic staff or management and professional staff (MAPS), or vice versa, please begin an employee’s new appointment date on the 1st or the 16th of the month whenever possible. This timing aligns with the semi-monthly (support staff) or monthly (all academic or MAPS) pay period and helps to ensure a smooth transition of the employee’s benefits, pension and pay. Through your continued cooperation HRS will be able to reconcile the different plans efficiently.
