On July 1, 2018, approximately 190 positions responsible for managerial or confidential labour relations functions as per criteria established by the Alberta Labour Relations Board were de-designated and are now considered Management and Professional Staff Excluded (MAPS) positions. The University consulted with Association of Academic Staff: University of Alberta (AASUA) in accordance with Section 60 of the Postsecondary Learning Act before the de-designation took effect.
The appointment of MAPS employees is governed by The Handbook of Terms and Conditions of Employment for Management and Professional Staff (Excluded).
